My 3 year old son has been potty trained a while now. We tried sitting on a potty seat on the toilet to start with but he didn’t like it (said it was scary) and preferred going using the potty so we went with it. We have been carrying the potty around with us (leaving it in the car) for outings which has worked so far. Eventually though it would be great to be able to catch public transport places or not take a potty around.

What does everyone else do when you’re out and about in public? Is your child ok to balance on a regular toilet? How did you make this less scary for them?

What about at home? For those that used a potty- how did you eventually transition to the toilet? He’s still not seen on the potty seat that goes on the toilet..

Edited to add- he’s fine peeing standing up in the toilet at home and uses a step to be able to reach the toilet. Do your boys sit down to pee on public toilets when they can’t reach to stand?
