Is there ever a justifiable reason why someone cheats on someone? I’m done with this now. Trying to understand why he keeps hurting me by doing it.

Whoever that 6.7% was who clicked on “you could be at fault” is wrong, and probably a cheater. You are not at fault. There’s no excuse for cheating. If you aren’t happy with someone, you leave. You don’t stay with them for comfort while being emotionally/sexually involved with someone else at the same time. It’s wrong. I’m sorry 💔

Now in terms of “faults,”I do believe neglecting your relationship is a REASON people try to justify cheating. they feel like their partner isn’t meeting their needs in whatever area of the relationship. That could very much be true, you could be at fault for neglecting or not communicating with your partner, but it’s still not an excuse to cheat. If you’re not satisfied in the relationship, then leave and do what you want. A lot of people claim they still love the person they’re with, and that’s why they don’t leave and they choose to cheat. It’s honestly terrible and heart breaking for anyone to go through.

I’d say no there’s never a justifiable reason to cheat and I’d  raise the question, “is there ever a justifiable reason to stay with a habitual cheater?” I have never heard an answer that makes enough sense to me to sit there and experience pain and develop trust issues (assuming no DV is involved and you’re not like fearful for your life). It’s usually “I love them, we have kids, they’ll change, etc” but to me it doesn’t seem worth it. I’ve never been cheated on but I can 100% say I would never stay. I haven’t actually been convinced that “once a cheater, always a cheater” isn’t legit. Maybe I’m just a “know your worth” advocate but it never made sense to me why people who have been cheated on stay.
