How would u handle condolences from an ex when married?

Question

An ex reached out to a husband express condolences for the passing of a loved one. Husband replied thanks & then blocked her. Wife is upset husband didn’t at least ask ex not to text anymore….what u be upset? 
I’ll answer: I felt it wasn’t that deep but this woman is LIVID & feels totally disrespected. Most of my questions get bomb ass answers here so…….?

Say thank you and move on. Why is everyone so threatened by the ex? An ex is an ex for a reason. This doesn’t mean they fall off the planet. If I hear someone I know is grieving, I reach out. Death is painful and condolences are kind. Has nothing to do with sex or getting back together. Y’all need to chill.

I'd say thanks or he'd say thanks and go about our lives.  I don't see a need to block or tell someone not to text anymore especially in a one off situation like this where it's specifically to offer sympathy.

Unless there's more to this, the wife sounds kind of ridiculous. Honestly, the fact that he blocked her sounds super extreme. Like if she started trying to text him, but all means so the contact but a simple "sorry to hear about the death of ____" seems totally reasonable. My ex and my dad were close when we were married, so if say if my dad died it's like 50/50 he'd reach out with condolences. My husband wouldn't care at all one way or the other.

It's nice they reached out. What if that ex was apart of the family for years and had a good relationship with the deceased. You thank them and move on 🤷🏽‍♀️

He’s grieving, let him handle it.
My husband’s ex sent condolences when his father died. I didn’t have any problem with it, she even called him to let him know that her grandmother died. Yeah, I raised an eyebrow at that one- but that was it. It’s a kind gesture when people are hurting.
She seems insecure, and as a couple they can work that out after he’s had some time to grieve

Why the block? When my sister died many people from high school/college  reached out With their condolences. I just said thanks, nbd. Didn’t think twice about it.

When my BIL died most of my husband's exes reached out - and I appreciated that they were there for him. It was traumatic and he needed support and friendship. The ones I have met reached out to me as well to ask if there was anything we needed. 
It's not like we existed in a vacuum until the day we met. We had lives before finding each other. Most of his exes had spent more time with my BIL than I had - they were devastated as well. In my experience it made me feel stronger knowing my partner had so many people thinking of us and ready to help: it reinforced that I am part of something bigger than my life.
