My husband fractured his foot at work on Thursday and he got x rays the same day and referred to a orthopedic because he has 2 fractures in the 5th metatarsal. The next day Friday his manager called him an asked for an update and said “let me know because I can’t wait for you” basically if he’s going to be out for long then he losing his job. My husband went through workers comp and does not get paid for the first week out but they already gave him insurance to cover medication and all doctor visits. Today he saw the orthopedic and he said he’s not clear to go to work and was given a boot and has to go back in two weeks. It’s his right foot and he can’t drive with his left. His manager ask for an update again and said “I don’t understand how you can’t come to work when you work behind a desk” so I told my husband to respond how will I get to work and back home. 40 min drive.. the manager responded “oh well that sucks.” My husband is a service advisor at a dealership he just started working at this place 2 months ago because the manager begged him to transfer and come work for him again. He had 2 years at his other location. He worked for this same manager his first year at his old location so that how the manager knows him. Can he lose his job over this injury?
