Casual relationship

Hi guys, so I’m in a friends with benefit type of situation. To give you some background, we go to college and study together before all this happened. We hit it off and started talking more and more. We would stay after school and talk for hours. Like I think we stayed for 5 hours talking one time. Well, he expressed he doesn’t want a relationship and wants to have fun because he’s not over someone. Well, I said the same thing and it’s been fine. We have talked about boundaries and he doesn’t want to kiss because it’s too emotional for him and I really like kissing. I expressed that to him and was upset that he didn’t want too but I had to understand. We still have deep conversations and still study. He spends the night and one night he tries to kiss me. I pulled away before we could and I’m just feeling confused because maybe he likes me? I just need someone else’s perspective because I can’t read the situation
