Leaving your SO while pregnant?

Has anyone broke up/left their SO while pregnant?
We have 2 kids together already and expecting our third in the summer so I’m not that far along yet, but this baby was 100% unplanned…
He has bipolar disorder and has been skipping his medication. I asked him why because he KNOWS he needs it. He just says he doesn’t feel like taking it anymore. But when he doesn’t take his medicine he gets mean. He’s mean to me, he’s mean to the kids, he’s mean to the dog, he’s just absolutely rotten and I’m sick of it (he’s never physically mean, just verbally). I can’t keep subjecting my kids and myself to the verbal abuse. I can’t keep walking around on eggshells so I don’t set him off. It’s not fair to the kids, it’s not fair to me.
I depend on him financially, but I have a sister who lives about 45 minutes away who has already said she’ll take the kids and I in. I’m thinking of just having my sister come pick the kids and I up while he’s at work to avoid the drama in person… but I’m scared…
How did you leave? Did you stay away? Did it change?

I left my ex fiancé when I was 3 months pregnant a few years ago. He was talking about making b 0 MB’s and wanting to buy a bu lle + proof vest. Then got mad at the police, he told me things basically threatening them all because of some lights on his car wasn’t legal. On top of that, I found out he has relations with a 15 yo when he was about 23. He didn’t change after the breakup and only got creepier. On Father’s Day he posted my sons ultrasound and had a banner over that implied my son was dead, kinda seemed like a threat because he captioned it “sorry son”. Even cops said a epo could make him snap and suggested not doing it. He tried sending me anonymous mail, but then I told the post office to trash any anonymous mail from then on. But, my son is three now and him and I are doing ok. It was a little hard at first, but I kinda like being on my own sometimes.

If he won't commit then you have to leave.
Often people with mental illness start to feel they are fine or don't need it, so they stop taking it. 
Until they start to spiral, get back on it and them repeat the cycle. 
I grew up with my dad being that way. He eventually started becoming physical towards my mom. Punching holes in walls. Leaving. Threatening to self harm. 
It can and will get worse.
