Baby cues

I am struggling to understand the cues of my second baby. Mostly hunger vs tired. My milk supply is inconsistent. Some days it’s overfull and other days he can’t get enough. It tends to happen in the evening. I feed him all I can..he gets upset because my flow is not strong enough and then we give him a few oz in a bottle. This goes on every

other hour until about 12 am. Anyone else struggling as well? I feel like I should know what to do since it’s my second baby but my first did not cry like this.
