The older a kid gets, the less tolerant people are

Are there any autism mom's of older kids? Like 12 and up? My son is 14 and honestly the older kids get the less tolerant people become for them. Does anyone feel that? Even if mentally they're younger. I have never received so much disgusted dirty looks as I received today. My son was already tired and overstimulated and wanted to go home. We were out all day and my last stop was to get some Christmas stuff. My son was having a meltdown down. I got him to calm down by giving him one of his stuffed animals. People stared. Then he said to me "Mama, I gotta pee". I look for a bathroom but everyone is pushing us which freaks my son out more. He then has an accident. He was upset about it and all I hear around me is "Ew!" " How old is he?!" "He's a teenager. That's unacceptable" "Proof our generation is too soft" "Nasty ass kids. Ain't got no home training". Then the manager comes yelling at my son to clean that up before he's banned from the store. I get in front of my boy and say he's autistic. Manager rolled his eyes, scoffed, and said someone better clean that up". So I'm cleaning up pee and my son is having a meltdown. I get so fed up I grab him and go to the baby isle. Get some extra large bedwetting pull ups and made him wear them the rest of the day and he was crying. I feel awful. I apologized for how mama handled it and got snuggles. I feel like if he was younger and I said he was autistic people would have more sympathy. But the older people get the less sympathy they receive.
