A scary situation..
Last night around 1:30am my husband and I were sitting in the living room when I heard my 4 year, I thought maybe she was coughing so I went to check up on her. When I went to her she had a loud noise coming from her throat/chest and her chest was stiff, her tummy was sucked in and she seemed like she was having trouble breathing. I yelled for my husband to come and we got her out her room and tried to get her to open her eyes, she wasn’t responding to us and was still trying to breathe, I made my husband stay with her because at that moment she was lifeless for a few mins. I immediately called 911, I knew there was no way I could figure out what’s going on with her. The police showed up first followed by the ambulance. She was responding at this point but was still in shock and heavy noises from chest. Turns out she had a croup attack , croup is a viral infection which causes inflammation/swelling in the larynx and trachea. This was the first time we experienced this and it was awful. I know infections happen all the time but seeing your child barely breathing is the scariest thing to go through.
She was given steroids at the hospital and we’ve been advised to watch her throughout the night for a few days… parents please always trust your gut feelings and call for help even if it doesn’t seem like a big deal.
I pray for good health for all your babies, may God protect all our babies 😭🙏🏻
