How to be there for him

Hi everyone I’m 26 and I recently met this guy (23) he’s amazing, so respectful and mature for his age. He lives with his dad & brother, his brother is 16 and he’s is basically his guardian (his parents are in their 50s).. it’s been a month of pure happiness but recently his dad ended up in the hospital, he was fainting.. I guess they found a artery in his neck. So he’s been in and out the hospital for his dad. Im a very understanding person so he’s constantly apologizing for “lagging” or just being busy now. I assure him not to even worry about it & I’ll always be here, if he needs anything.

I’ve never knew how to comfort anyone. Because I handle things on my own, I guess my q’s is should I maybe leave him alone? I don’t want to be “too” much. Not necessarily go MIA but just wait for him to reach out? I text him good morning today and he responds, “GM I had such a hectic morning, have an amazing day. ♥️” I just left it alone. I know he’s probably carrying so much stress, I just want to go about it the right way w/out him thinking I may be needy.

Any suggestions how to approach this? Thank you.
