If someone uses a VPN are they sketchy?

This guy told me he uses a VPN to make sure that when he’s online his activity is hidden. He’s been involved with the police for things I’m not comfortable saying but it makes me question if that’s why he’s got the VPN.

I broke up with my child’s bio father after finding out why he started using VPN to hide things. He told me police took his computers but he didn’t get charged with anything because they didn’t read him his rights. Had to do with a 15 year old. Idk if the meds he was on made him open up to me about it or what. I broke up with him after that and the fact he started talking about making explosives. Yikes. I thought he was just a computer nerd at first. Go with your gut feelings.

He is sketchy, but using a VPN isn’t. I’m on one all the time required by work to access any of our company networks. I don’t turn it off when I’m doing a personal thing. It wouldn’t even occur to me 🤷🏼‍♀️

Most people use them to watch TV shows from other countries. Not to stay hidden. This guy sounds sketchy to me.

Not to be the bearer of bad news BUT a VPN isn’t much security 🤣 if he’s really trying to hide his online activities he’s not doing a good job. Unless your paying for a high quality VPN (and pair it with a GOOD Proxy that you’d also have to pay top dollar for) it’s not hard for the authorities to break through it and see all your online activities. A VPN just bounces your IP address, it doesn’t really mask it. But typically people use VPN’s for harmless things. So unless you have a sketchy past I’d say it’s not sketchy.

I know lots of people who use vpns, it wouldn’t concern me 🤷🏼‍♀️ Depending on what he did to go to jail-that’s what would concern me. 
I use a vpn to try to protect myself from viruses when watching tv shows on illegal websites 😅

Your internet provider can sell all your search history and that’s how you get these adds etc. with all this fraud and people stealing your credit card and identity, silly not to have one.
