Spoiled breast milk

Carolyn

I'm so frustrated. At my daughter's 2 week check up, she was still not back to her birth weight and they were concerned. I thought that might be true because she'd been sleeping through feedings and going 4 to 5 hours sometimes more between eating. I had been pumping to try to keep my supply up, but I hadn't been religious about it. Just once or twice a day.

So the nurse told me to feed her every 2 hours even at night to try to get her weight back up. I knew I would have trouble keeping my supply up for so many feedings in a day, but I figured I could bottle feed her with all the milk I had pumped until my supply caught up with the demand.

But I went home to find that the breaker flipped on the freezer I stored my milk in and it was all spoiled...

Now I'm trying to breastfeed her every 2 hours and pump in between just to try to get my supply where it needs to be. I hardly have time to sleep. All I do is feed her, pump, and try to eat enough to maintain this level of output. I feel so weak all the time because I'm still bleeding on top of it all from my C-section.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get my supply up? I'm so exhausted.
