There’s a guy I been friends with like 10 years of my life. I’ve always been kinda afraid to date him because my past relationship was a bad experience. He has female friends. Old co workers. Sometimes they come over to his house and hangout etc video games and stuff. I myself don’t have any male friends. I’ve always figured that’s not a good thing to have while being in a relationship etc.. People always say well don’t be in a relationship if you can’t trust anyone. Who trusts someone 100% anyway? Is it bad for him to keep female friends around if we end up in a relationship? Thoughts pls

I trust my husband 100% and you should also trust YOUR future husband 100%. I see no problem with female friends, personally, and from my perspective, you should find a way to feel less insecure about friends of the opposite sex before you pursue a serious relationship. Marriage is hard enough already— even when you’re not insecure over harmless friendships

If your past relationship is affecting you still and is creating trust issues for new potential relationships, maybe you should work through that before getting into another relationship in general - even if it doesn’t end up being your friend

You have an advantage being his friend because you can see how he really is outside his relationship. When hes had a girlfriend in the past, what was he like with his female friends? Flirty? Respectful? How does he talk about other women? Sexual remarks about other women when his girlfriend isnt around? Youve had a chance to really get to know him. And the more serious you  are, the more youre likely to be included in their activities.
