How long did it take you to progress while being dilated?

My friend is 3cm and she’s wondering when she will go into full labor.

It’s impossible to know… some people can sit there at a 3-4 for weeks and not go into active labour. Others can be at a zero and have their baby 12 hours later.

I didn't dilate with either kid until I was in active labor. You can walk around for weeks dilated and ephased. Honestly it's probably better to not get checked to not get your hopes up or worry because it literally means nothing

I was 3cm at my 36 week appt and stayed that way until I went into labor at 41 weeks. From start of contractions to birth, labor was 9 hours.

I went into the hospital with no contractions but my water broke. When they measured me that morning (7am was when I was admitted) I was only 1cm. 12 hours later, I only dilated .5 cm more. I ended up getting the epidural by 1am the following morning, and I woke up at 3am to being 5cm dilated. After that, I was fully dilated by 12pm that day and was ready to push! :) Good luck & congratulations!!

I was 3cm with my second for the entire 9th month however once labor started it was extremely quick. The answer to this is is she currently in labor or found out she was 3cm at the dr checkup?

There's no answer. I was 3cm for a couple of weeks one baby. And the other I did not dilate until I was in labour.

I was at 2cm at my 36 week check up I was at a 2 cm for well over 2 days with my water broken with dilation strips and cervix softener plus Pitocin still wasn’t in active labor. I caved got the epidural and went from 2cm to crowning in less then an hour 🙃.

I was at a 3 from 29 weeks until 37 weeks, then I was at a 4 for a week and my water broke at 38 weeks
