Is this normal?

So my bf and i have been dating for 9 months he teaches at a lutheran school.

Its odd to me that he is 30, his best friend is a guy 7 years younger than him, and also used to be a kid he taught. I think its strange, i wouldnt have that kind of close relationship with an old student.

Going out having wings, and barbecues and beers.

Just not sure if that’s normal?

( edit: also thank you for input because ive never dated a teacher before I just figured i’d ask here because when i asked him he seemed like my question was meant for something more gross i guess. I know he wouldnt do anything with his students etc im just thinking does it benefit him to be super close with his former student? When he should be more focused on having adult relationships ( or people around his age and older?
