True or false camping is not really camping if your in a RV/ camper?

Question

Every year me and my husband go camping with a another couple. This year I got the gift I’ve been wanting for a long time, a camping trailer. It’s fully equipped with a bedroom, living room area, kitchen, bathroom. 
Our friend we go camping with says it’s not really camping if we are in that and not a tent🏕 . 
He actually seems a little bummed out we bought the camping trailer maybe he is a little jealous idk. But it’s clear he is not happy that we will be in that and him and his girlfriend will be in a tent.

He probably just wanted to get to have the same experience together and you guys went and changed the plans a little. There’s nothing wrong with having gotten the rv, it’s just not what he had in mind when you guys agreed to go on a camping trip together. I think it would be like if I planned to go on vacation with my best friend and we’d agreed on a place and then she booked a different hotel after we’d agreed on one. Like yeah, we’re still together, just not as together as I had originally thought.

It’s camping to me. Seems like an odd thing to disagree about that probably just stems from jealousy. Also sounds gatekeepy. No one owns camping. 😝

Lol is your friend the camping police ? I would consider it camping 😂. I’ve been camping in a tent and that’s just really uncomfortable and I don’t really enjoy peeing in the woods. If I’m not in my home then it would be camping to me. Even if I was camping in my backyard.

Well we only use the camper for actually sleeping or on the road or when it’s raining. We do not use the kitchen and everything like that while camping. During the day and the night were outside the whole time. We still experience the outdoors that way, we still spend all day fishing and hiking and by the fire and what not. But it’s so much better when it rains.

I joke with my husband that rv camping isn't camping but it's just different. I haven't slept in a sleeping bag in almost 10 years. I don't know if I could hack it. 
I've done both & it's a different vibe when you are without amenities. I wouldn't rub it in someone's face if they rv camp. My husband is an rv camper/cabin nature guy.
