School Reimbursement
Would you take your employer up on their offer to pay for your schooling?
My husband is in trade school and has completed 2 semesters. We had enough to pay for both and thought we would get most of it back at tax time that we could then roll it into the next year, however his tax form says it’s not at least “half time” so we only get about $250 back 🤦♀️ which wouldn’t pay for even half of the next semester and we have 6 more to go.
I worry if we have them pay for it he will be indebted to the company and even if things get to a point where he wants to leave he can’t because he “owes them”. They are a smaller company and I don’t feel like they would do that, but they have nothing formal because they’re a smaller company.
My company on the other hand makes you commit to working another 18 months for each semester they pay for whether you are full time student or not which sounds like a version of hell to me so I’d never take them up on it.
He potentially can qualify for a scholarship for the 2nd year but we won’t know until the end of summer if he’d qualify or not.
