How long did the adoption process take for you?

Adoptive parents - how long did the process take once you started to once you officially adopted your child? What age child did you adopt and where did you go through?

Answer

I don’t have first hand experience. But I know of 2 families. One was about 13 years ago. They went through the adoptive approval process and were waiting. Got a call that a baby had just been born and they had to go pick her up that day. They drove for hours through an epic snow storm. The 2nd is one of my dearest friends that has been through the approval process and waiting still, 8 years later.

I didn’t do a full parent adoption but I did a step parent adoption and it took 3 months. I don’t know if that’s helpful.
