Has anyone else, before kids, had expectations for their baby & themselves and are now eating your words?? Or just me??😂

Parenthood (i'm a FTM) is NOTHING like i trained for all those months i was pregnant.. and my advice to my old self would be "DON'T HAVE ANY EXPECTATIONS!"
feel free to leave your examples, here's my biggest ones...
✨i will NEVER bedshare, my baby will go in their crib on their back & thats it!!
 & 
✨my baby is going to nap by herself & i'll get all my chores done
✨bottles & pacifiers are gonna be a breeeeeze
✨i'll just take her on a car ride to make her fall asleep & that'll work.... 
YEAH RIGHT!

I would’ve answered no if you hadn’t added the “I’m perfect” part 🥴. I knew babies were a handful going in to it. I babysat as a kid, volunteered at a daycare and I have a nephew so I went in with absolutely no expectations and planned to just take it day by day. That doesn’t make me perfect. I’ve messed up plenty.

Had many expectations for myself mostly. I know babies can be a handful, but I fully expected myself to deal with it differently.
"I've been depressed. I'll get help early if I see signs of ppd!"
Yeah, bloody idiot I was. Was sick and had to quit my job and was out of job for a year. Finally got one and then my stupid body got pregnant again 🤦🏻‍♀️
I fully expected myself to handle everything better and cooler. I'm not. I'm just surviving 😂

I’m not perfect by any stretch lmao but I didn’t have many expectations. I’ve been a very go-with-the-flow parent.
The one expectation I had was very little screen time for #2 because my first had like zero screen time until she was 2 years old. Turns out I forgot I had a first who watches TV so it was on and #2 got screen time way earlier (and waaaaay more often, shout-out to Covid) than I expected.

I would see how my cousins acted and when I was pregnant people would say “thats what you have to look forward to” , I got tired of hearing it and said “No, my kids wont be like that. Its not that child’s fault for how they act it’s the parent’s. They learn by watching” I have 3 kids and one of them has the worst attitude and fits (she’s calming down though) no matter what I do or how I go about it, so I guess I am eating my words in a way

I wouldn’t say I had expectations for my baby. I had expectations for my parenting. I’m a go with the flow person, but I also like some kind of order. 
The things I’ve failed at:
I was adamant that my kids would never sleep in my bed unless they were sick or had a nightmare. My 3 year old sleeps with us every night. I’m doing better with my 3 month old. 
I was not going to let my toddler have a paci. It was going to be gone by 1. We finally kicked the habit a couple months before his 3rd birthday. I’m hoping to take the baby’s at 6 months. 
I most definitely was not buying my kids a tablet until they were like 10. My 3 year got an iPad for Christmas 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ but he does not have unlimited access to it and doesn’t have it every single day. 
And the biggest… my children would most definitely know better than to misbehave all the time 😂😂😂😂 my son doesn’t care what I say. He’s doing what he wants. He listens to nothing!!! I’m ready to pull my hair out I’ve tried everything. I need super nanny. 
Other than those 3 things, it’s everything I thought it would be. I’ve taken care of kids basically my whole life, so I pretty much knew what to expect.

My mom told me I would have to stop the swearing when I had my first I said yeah easy hahahaha every other sentence I’m swearing 🤦🏻‍♀️. My kids can sleep on there own it took years though, my husband comes back from work around 6:30am I’m flat out with our youngest in the bed I put her in the cot at first then she gets up through the night screaming so she comes to bed with me🤣. There’s lots lots more I said but didn’t happen.
