how many ultrasounds?

Hi guys :) first time pregnant mom here!! I’m wondering how many ultrasounds are normal and expected throughout the pregnancy? From what I’ve seen, people get ultrasounds fairly frequently but when I googled it, it suggested just two. One in the first trimester to confirm pregnancy and one halfway for the anatomy scan. is only two normal?

2-3 is normal: dating scan, anatomy scan then sometimes doctors want to check baby’s placement around 36 weeks.

Barring any special circumstances, the two you mentioned are the standard. Many women will also get a nuchal translucency scan around 12 weeks.

With my 1st I got 3. There is a clinic near me that does early ultrasounds where I got my first ultrasound. After that I had one around 9 weeks and one around 20 weeks. Didn’t see him again until he was born at 41+2. With my 2nd I got 9 ultrasounds. Went to the clinic for an early ultrasound. One around 9wks, 13wks, 20wks. She had fluid around her heart so they did another ultrasound at 22wks. At 25wks her heartbeat was irregular so had to have an ultrasound at 26wks with a specialist. Had a growth scan at 36wks and found out she was breech. Had another ultrasound at 37wks to see if she flipped (she did) and had my last ultrasound at 42+1. She was born the next day. I had a midwife the 2nd time and I don’t think I would have gotten that many if I was seeing my old ob because he honestly sucked and probably wouldn’t have cared about the fluid around her heart or anything else.

Wow, I'm in New York and also considered a geriatric pregnancy so I get a ton (gave birth at 36).  They start at 6/6 1/2 weeks and then see you every two weeks until 12.  Then it's 16,20,24,28,32,36 and then once a week until your due date, then you go in to be monitored every three days.  My first pregnancy was a missed miscarriage found at 10 weeks, so when I went in for my second pregnancy, they let me come every single week for ultrasounds just to check the growth.  It was such a relief to see him weekly until I hit 12 weeks!  That pregnancy got my beautiful little boy.  I can't imagine just having two!

Every month here in germany and every 2 weeks in third trimester. This is for pregnancies that aint high risk. I have no idea how many appointments those with high risk pregnancy get but i heard they get more US. All US are done by my OB-Gyn.

Here they do 6w, 12w, 20-22w, around 30w, 36w and I think after this it's every week or so. I don't remember after 30w
