High risk pregnancy!
Any high risk pregnancy mamas with me? Share your story and your struggle! I love to see what we go through to make sure are babies arrive safely.
This is my 3rd pregnancy. I have a 5 year old, an angel baby (I lost early on in pregnancy at 5 weeks but I count it because that was my baby, & the pain and love I felt is real) and my baby boy I’m currently pregnant with now. I’m going on 5 months this week🤍 I’m so happy and in love with with all of them🤍
I have type 2 diabetes. Had it since I was in the 4th grade. So this puts me in the high risk category for pregnancies.
It’s recommended I stay active to keep my sugar levels in healthy range for a baby because high/uncontrolled levels cause issues with birth as well as still births. Very scary and I have seen the affects of uncontrolled levels in pregnancy with one of my friends and it ended in a loss…I try not to think of anything bad like that happening because it gives me anxiety.
Thank goodness I have a release that makes me feel better which is the gym. It keeps me busy and my mind at rest from constantly worrying.
I’m put on a very strict diet by my ob and high risk doctor and recommended to gain 15 pounds from pregnancy which is the same thing they said when I was pregnant with my daughter. So I did just that, I gained exactly 15 pounds. Hopefully I can do it again with this pregnancy. I eat 6x a day small portions so I actually never feel hungry till my alarm is about to go off for snack or meals. Yes I have so many alarms for reminder for meals and blood sugar checks. It goes off ALL THE TIME. My life revolves around numbers and the clock. It’s very annoying sometimes lol
I check my fasting levels that have to be below 90 and meals have to be below 130 1 hour after first bite. I’m currently on metformin and was put on insulin for my fasting levels. I tried to keep it in control with diet but was told it was due to pregnancy hormones. I had to do all these things with my daughter when I was pregnant with her and she is very healthy. The only thing that was different was I didn’t have to take insulin with her pregnancy. Which I have no problem with since insulin does not pass through the placenta.
Being diabetic also puts me at risk for high blood but thank goodness so far I haven’t had any issues. I pray it stays that way but the further along I get the more harder it is for the placenta to handle my sugar and blood pressure. The only thing I can do is remain calm, follow the diet plan and stay active. If all goes as planned I get induced a week before my due date.
I pray for a safe and healthy pregnancy also for everyone with high risk and normal pregnancies.
We all just want our babies safe in our arms.
Below is me at the gym the other day, my bump that’s finally coming in and my loves.
