Are Emily and Emma too similar?

Pregnant with baby girl and my husband and I both like the name Emily, however, our 14 year old niece is named Emma (we live in the same town and are close).  Are they too similar?

I thought you had a daughter named one already and wanted to name the second one the other lol

What does it matter, they are 14 years apart and don't have the same parents. I have 2 cousins with the same name on one side of my family and 4 with the same name on the other. The 4 James' are 4 of 34 first cousins. The other are 2 or 10. 
Point is, you love the name then use it.

For siblings, yes it’s way too similar. But for a cousin or niece it’s different enough

Yes, the names are similar; HOWEVER, naming your daughter that name should be okay because it is just a cousin. If you had another daughter and were trying to name them emma and emily, then I can see where the names may be a problem.

Our daughters name is Emily. My husband’s cousin and his wife named their daughter Emma. I was surprised. We are close with them and together often. Basically our kids are growing up together. My husband and I feel it’s too close but they apparently didn’t. We also call our daughter Emme. So idk 🤷🏼‍♀️
