Has he lost interest in me

Boyfriend and I had our first time where we were just quietly awkward. No hand holding or anything - It lasted for 15 min and it was in his car after we both hung out with some friends. We talked about it and he told me he didn't know what to say, and all I could gather from it was that he didn't like me anymore. He told me this wasn't the case and that he still wants to be in the relationship, but now whenever we text, he is short with 1 word answers and lots of emojis probably because he doesn't want to talk.

Is this normal or has he lost interest in me? Should I just leave and not say anything
