Tonsillitis recurring

I’m at a loss of where to turn. I have very mild tonsil pus that come and go on my tonsils. When I have the flare up I feel tired and run down but don’t really run a fever. It will be on one side one day and then the next couple of days end up on the other side. There might be 4-5 pus spots on one tonsil and then disappear in two three days and then the other tonsil might get one pus spot It’s not severe every time with fevers- I have heard a tonsillectomy is an extremely painful recovery as an adult- I really don’t want that. has anyone experienced something similar?
