Dating men who smoke weed

I don't smoke and I never have.

My ex used to smoke 4/5 times a day and he didn't provide for his kids (where the issues began). Before this I had no problem with it, but since then I've tried to avoid men who smoke weed. I guess my ex left a bad taste in my mouth. I know guys who smoke and provide for their family - so I know it's just my ex who made the wrong choices.

The man I'm currently dating smokes. He doesn't smoke around me (although it isn't something I asked him to do). I don't really see it as anything different to having a drink every so often. It's just the money side of it that concerns me. I've mentioned my ex's smoking habits and he says he would never prioritise smoking over providing for his kids (hypothetically since he has no kids). I just really like him and worried I'll end up in the same situation again. I would never ask him to change or expect him to.
