How to take two kids out to play???

Question

This might be a silly question, but how can I take both of my children outside together at the same time? My daughter is two years old and loves being outside but throws a huge tantrum every single time we come in no matter what I do. I also have a six month old. And I want to take her out too. I don’t know how to do it at the same time. We live on a busy street so I have to be careful anyways. It’s literally every single time we come inside my two-year-old throws the biggest tantrum ever. There are many times I literally have to throw my two-year-old over my shoulder and bring her in the house and she’s just throwing an absolute fit throwing herself everywhere hitting screaming kicking biting. Any advice?

That's very very normal. Our poor toddlers have been stuck inside all winter. No toddlers or even older kids want to come in after playing. 
6 mo can go in the carrier or stroller. Also big enough for the baby swing. If you want do a back yard thing you bring the pack n ay outside and but baby in there while you play with 2 year old. 
You just gotta rip the bandaid and lower your expectations. 
Your toddler will cry when it's time to go it. If you expect it, it's not as annoying.

First off start working on the tantrums.  That's just not workable.   I would do lots of practices like walk outside back inside out and back in.  Make it a game so she views it as fun.     I would wear the baby so as to keep my hands free.     Once she gets the hang of that maybe go in the back yard if you have one or a local park would be good too if you're concerned about street traffic.    It just takes lots of practice and unfortunately the only way to achieve it is to do it lots.   I have felt with many tantrums myself.  My boys are just 16mo apart so I had to learn to juggle them.   The best advice I have is make sure they will come when told and hold your hand when told.   Those abilities are priceless when you are outdoors or out and about

I had a similar issue with my two. Infant and 3yo at the time. My infant hated being outside! He would cry constantly. My oldest loved being outside and would cry when we went in. So I would set a timer to go in, and give warnings when it was getting close. As the baby got older it got easier haha, he didn't cry as much. My oldest got more understanding, even though it was tough for him at times. It helped that we have a gated back porch and fenced in front yard honestly, so when the baby was sleeping we could go out extra in the front or back keeping the doors open. Taking walks in the double stroller was helpful as well. Or even wearing the baby and my toddler walking. I also would time going back in with snack time to make him more interested in going inside.

Transitions are hard for 3 year-olds. This is perfectly developmentally normal behavior. I’m surprised by all of the comments to spank or punish. I didn’t think we did that anymore. 
Learn how to make the transition easier. Of course they don’t want to stop playing outside. I wouldn’t either. Make going inside fun. Are you going inside for lunch? For nap? Try to come up with a simple transitional activity to enjoy first. Maybe it’s a 15 minute art time. “Let’s take that leaf inside and you can make a crayon rubbing while I make lunch!” “Let’s see if we can find a picture like that bug/bird/whatever in our book before naptime!” 
Having a predictable routine will help, too. If they know when they get to go outside and what comes next, it can be easier for them to transition between activities. An illustrated routine can help them too. Then they can actually SEE that, “Ok. I get to play outside after mom cleans up breakfast. Then I just have to get through lunch, book, nap, etc before I can go outside again in the afternoon!” 
Good luck and hang in there. These are big emotions that they’re learning to cope with. It’s hard for both of you.

She needs to know your expectations and you need to be consistent with punishment. So you have to follow through if you tell her no outside time if she throws a fit. We had issues at first bc my youngest wasn’t a huge fan of being outside and my oldest was. I would take my oldest out while the baby slept. Now they both love being outside (3 years and 20 months) they know I mean business though if they don’t listen. They also know if they throw a fit we won’t go out anymore. We walked to the park yesterday and I told my 3 year old if she threw a fit when we were leaving we weren’t coming back for awhile. She started to give me attitude and I just reminded her what I said before. She shaped up real fast 😂

I get this pain. I have a almost 3 year old and a 19 month old. On nice weather days we go to the park or play in our back yard. If you have it in your budget and area look into a gymboree class. Gets her active in the bad weather days but keeps your 6 month old contained as well.

That's old enough for there to be an age appropriate punishment for acting that way, whether it be no TV, timeout, something. Personally I have a zero tolerance policy for hitting or biting and it means an instant time out. That works well for us.

Swat her butt & tell her you won’t go out at all next time if she acts like that. That’s old enough to behave. Especially the biting
