Question

Did anyone have a mostly absent parent that only contacted you on your birthday/holidays? Do you have a relationship with them now? How did you view that growing up? How did this affect you?

Definitely my father, I currently don’t have a relationship with him. It made me angry because he only has 2 children and was there for her but not me. I wish I had a relationship with him but I just don’t feel like it’s fair to repair a relationship I didn’t break.

Matters why they were absent.. did the involved parent make it near impossible for them to be more involved? Did the parent CHOOSE to be absent?

It sucks, but you learn to love those who care enough to spend their time with you.

This was my entire dads side of the family and my biological father. I do not have a relationship with any of them anymore and am closer to my stepfather.
