Baby bedtime
We recently moved our almost 6 month old’s bedtime up at 6:30 because by 7:30, we felt she was overtired. It was always a struggle to get her to fall asleep and/or stay asleep. Now that we moved it, it’s almost worse. She wakes up again at 7:30, then like 9:30, midnight. Sometimes she’ll fall back to sleep once held or she needs fed. It’s like she’s a newborn again. Side note, she already has 2 teeth. We think she may be teething again. How do you get your baby to sleep more than a couple hours or is this just the normal? I read so many posts of people saying their baby sleeps 12 hours straight through the night. I’m blown away.
Update: Our pediatrician recommended sleep training at her 6 month appointment. I know it’s not for everyone and that’s okay but it worked for us. She sleeps most nights 11-12 hours straight. It’s amazing. She’s a much happier baby and so are we! For those that also sleep trained, I have another question. So giving her a bottle is not the very last thing before putting her in her crib. I didn’t want her to associate falling asleep with needing a bottle. So we do bottle, brush teeth, book, then bed. While most nights she sleeps through the night, some nights she will wake up at about 3am and the only thing that will finally get her to sleep is a bottle. But it is about an hour long ordeal in the middle of the night before she finally is asleep because I try to get her to fall asleep without the bottle. Has anyone experienced this? Am I doing the right thing and giving her a bottle? I know she can put herself back to sleep because most nights she sleeps through till 6am. And I feel like she can’t be truly hungry because she gets enough to eat during the day because again most nights she makes it to the morning without waking. But maybe she is just randomly hungry? I really can’t complain because I’d happily get up once during the night as opposed to what she was doing before the sleep training and waking up multiple times a night. Any thoughts? Thank you!
