Can't remove helix hoop

Alright so I've had this hoop in for a year and I've been wanting to change it to a stud because the hoop is problematic for me.

I I have a hoop in and I was pretty positive it's a captive bead however I started messing with it and realized there's a gap between the hoop and the bead soo I've been trying to twist the ball to see if it'll come off but nothing. If it was a captive bead wouldn't it have fallen off because there's nothing holding it together on one side.

Any advice for me?
