Iron IV

Can anyone with medical knowledge answer this? I had my daughter in 2020 through a very traumatic C-section. My husband and I were discussing it last night and I remembered something that was never explained to either one of us.

So my labor stalled out at 38 hours and they had to do an urgent csection. I was in rough shape afterwards. I was very weak and my husband said that I looked very grey and sickly. I remember that we were in the hospital for 4 days. For 3 of those days I now remember they gave me iron in an IV. They didn’t explain to my husband why they were giving it to me and my husband says he didn’t really understand it. But he thought that if I had lost blood they would have just given me a transfusion or something during the surgery.

Would do they give your iron after a C-section?
