Comedians are supposed to cross lines. They do ALL of the time. From jokes about sexual harassment, the Holocaust, to jokes about sexual orientation, penis size, you name it. Some comedians are funnier than others, some more risky, and some more safe. Our society has become so politically correct, you can not make fun of anyone for anything as someone will be offended. If Will felt this strongly about the joke, he should have gone up to Chris, made this a teachable moment and shared what Allopecia is. Use your platform. I am waiting for videos to resurface of some of the stuff that Will has said in his past, didn’t he also say that everyone needs to have thick skin when they get into this business?? Where was his?

Chris Rock handled it well, I’m glad he didn’t attempt to fight back. His joke crossed a line, but violence is not an appropriate response and excusing it is also not appropriate. I’m surprised Smith was allowed to stay, receive an award and I’ve heard make a speech about how he is a vessel of love, that is a terrible example for kids and especially young boys and girls.

I mean… wasn’t Will laughing at the joke? That whole thing was just weird.

The fact people are obsessing over this like high school children that just witnessed a fight is ridiculous . It happened and it’s time to move on. No matter how you word it you’re going to find the same answers on the two previous posts.

Why is everyone so obsessed with this scenario? Will Smith is a badass and Chris Rock sucks. Was Will wrong? Yes. Do I understand why he did it? Also yes. Do I feel bad for Chris? No.

He was seated perfectly to just walk up and hit Chris. He’s been in the entertainment industry longer than I’ve been alive and knows damn well that comedians often hit below the belt. Chris didn’t even react. The body language from Will was not at all aggressive. He was on the freaking Oscars and is old enough to have the maturity to not climb onto stage, hit a man on national television...at the Oscars..., and then they just let him accept his award after he assaulted a man? If this isn’t staged, I don’t even know what to say.
