Balloon catheter dilation?

Question

40 weeks today and baby is still head down! Hoping for a VBAC, so we’re giving it another week. If no spontaneous labor by Wednesday, we’re inserting the balloon catheter and planning an induction on Thursday. I can’t have cervical ripening medications due to my previous C-section.
Has anyone had the balloon catheter before? Any tips? I’ve heard it’s incredibly painful, but hoping for some stories!

I had it with my vbac. It honestly sucked. Hurt so much going in and I couldn’t handle it, which is weird cuz I usually have a pretty high pain tolerance. It put so much pressure down there that I kept feeling like I had to pee. I waited an hour but then went to go to the bathroom and it immediately fell out. I had only dilated half a cm with it. Thankfully my doc agreed we wouldn’t bother trying it again and we’d just stick with low and slow pitocin. That went much better and I had a successful vbac

I had the balloon catheter. Placement was pretty uncomfortable, not gonna lie. I squeezed my husband's hands HARD, thankfully he was a good sport about it lol 🤣 but once it's in (as long as it's in correctly) you can't really feel it. Kinda like wearing a tampon, just with a reallyyyyy long string haha. It is a pain to pee with & walking with it in took some getting used to because they tape it to your leg. I got cervadil with it as well, and in 12 hours I went from 1.5cm to 5cm. I had mild contractions that whole time, but they were so low key I could sleep through them. I think it is supposed to fall out once you hit like 4cm dilated, but mine never fell out. That's why they kept it in for the whole 12 hours (I don't think its supposed to be in any longer).
