Personally I use it if I need to contact someone and don’t want to share my number, and sometimes I have it for the times I can’t pay my phone bill, so I can make calls and texts via internet connection. 
It could be for many reasons. Cheating could be one, but it definitely isn’t the only reason hun.

Y’all act like most men are trustworthy with it comes to these kinds of topics. do y’all really think he would tell her the truth if she asked? Why he couldn’t have told her ahead of time when he was downloading the app on why he was downloading it? Come on y’all be real.... 
I would say to ask him and see how he responds. And pay attention to his reaction. If he acts like it’s no big deal and say it’s nothing and still doesn’t give a honest answer on why he has a whole app for texting when his real number is working, then I would act like you let it go and keep watch and investigate.
I understand some of y’all women are in the most best and great long lasting relationships but most men in today’s world aren’t legit. You let one thing slide with some of these men and he will keep doing it until you’re fed up, because men like to push boundaries. But whatever. Just ask him and keep it in the back of your head so you don’t be surprised and look dumb when shit hits the fan.
