Spotting

Hey guys just wondering if anyone else who’s experienced what I’m experiencing could give me some insight. Basically I’m on the pill and because my periods are really painful my doctor said it would be safe to skip every two periods. I’ve been doing this since December and now I’m experiencing spotting, I was a little worried that maybe I was pregnant because I had missed a few pills and had also gotten a stomach bug so I thought maybe that made my birth control not as effective if that makes sense. I’ve also experienced mild cramping along with light pink spotting when I wipe, but I’m not sure if I’m just stressed and that’s causing the spotting to occur or if there’s a chance I could be pregnant.
