At what age do you allow sleepovers?

How old were your kids when you let them have a sleepover with grandparents or close family? My son is 3 and he’s only had two (once when I was in the hospital having his brother and once before, when my husband arranged it without my knowledge and made me feel like I couldn’t change the plan because it would offend his parents.) I trust our parents but I personally see no reason for my 3 year old to sleep anywhere other than in his bed in our home unless absolutely necessary at this age.

Our kids have been sleeping at my parents since they were 10mo. I grew up having lots of sleepovers at my grandparents, so it’s normal for our family. My old bedroom is now their room. They’d stay with my I -laws more if they lived closer.

My son is coming up to 3 and have never slept anywhere but home. I always said when he asks to stay the night with grandparents and understands what that means, is when he'll be allowed to stay over. 
We're hopefully going to TTC for number two soon so he'll possibly need an overnight then, but I'd honestly prefer someone to just stay at ours for the night to save disruption to my sons routine. 
On the other hand, my nephew is just a couple months younger than my son and has been staying over at grandparents since around 4 weeks old, which has been a weekly thing since. They often like him to go at weekend so they can have time to themselves as they're both gamers. So, I guess it's what we suits each family and works for them.

My situation is a bit different because my husband and I both worked nightshift. I got 12 weeks off after my son was born. At 12 weeks, my mom had my son 1-2 nights a week. It sucked and I hated doing it, but it became the norm. Now we’re both going to be on day shift and I don’t intend to have my son or daughter (when she’s born) spend the night anywhere else for a long time.

If I’m there it’s different since my dad lives 2-3 hours away and my son is 3 almost 4 in august and he is very attached. If we go there I have to stay with him and even then he asks where his daddy is all day and night (he wanted me to drive home at 3am once to go back and get him and I couldn’t) but with my husbands parents… I really would rather prefer he NEVER stay with them. They are nice but they live completely different from us. Out and about and drinking all the time (his dad will drive home intoxicated and tell us about it 🙄) but my mother she lives in the same house as us and has a room upstairs. He can go up and spend the night with her whenever he wants pretty much unless she works very early. We live in a small town she works like 1-1/2 - 2 hours away so she has to get up earlier as well. But other people I guess I’d say never
Now If this is a kids sleepover 😁😁 they are welcome to hang out here since we have all the cool Gadgets and what not and I’d say around 5+

With grandparents, when needed eg Weddings and for we go away for a night in a hotel once/twice a year. We are so fortunate that our parents are nice, capable and well people. I totally understand that not everyone has that. But I trust them/ and given how little my son slept we needed a night away!

My daughter has slept over my parents house a few times a year since she was older than 1 year old. She goes for a night or two every couple of months. I would be comfortable with her spending a night with either set of grandparents as long as she was the only child in their care at the time. My in laws have 5 grandchildren total and watching more than one family set would be more challenging for them.

My girl started at 1.5 years when I had my son. I was so nervous about it but she did great and honestly, now I love it when her grandparents take her because it gives me a little break. She also absolutely loves staying the night there… I guess it depends what kind of relationship you have with your parents and in-laws.
