Homeschooling moms?
So my daughter turned 4 in February. I’m always working with her on basics (she knows colors, shapes numbers 0-30, most of her letters, starting to understand adding 1+2, etc.) We’ve decided to send her to preschool this fall where she will be attending kindergarten the following year. She gets VERY emotional about school anytime we mention it to her saying she doesn’t want to leave, she wants to go to school at home, etc. so my husband and I have talked and I’m whiling to homeschool and have always found homeschooling in a way even better than sending a child to school during set hours to learn things that sometimes are not even necessary outside in the real world. We’ve decided to start her in preschool to see how she does but depending on the outcome; I’ll be able to take the next step and start homeschooling if need be. Well over the weekend we had gone camping with in-laws and my husbands 2 aunts. They were asking about schooling for Alliyah and I briefly said “we are going to try preschool for 2 days a week, then depending on that she’ll continue to go there for kindergarten or I might homeschool her until she is old enough to decide on her own” His family was very against it and starting saying “she’ll do fine” just starting making it seem like homeschooling is such a terrible thing… I’m just really frustrated with how they were acting and like don’t understand why some people think homeschooling is not a way for a child to learn. Just curious if any other moms on here homeschool or not or have thought about it. My husband and I have both said we feel 7 hours a day at school is a little much for a 5 year old child. We have multiple valid reasons as to why we feel homeschooling might be best for our daughter and our family right now… if anyone has any advice or feedback on if they homeschool that would be greatly appreciated.
