Toxic mother in law

My mother in law really dislikes me, she always has. She’s EXTREMELY judgmental she has disliked me since the beginning because I have a 4 year old who as conceived in a 4 year long term relationship that just didn’t not work out. She would always tell my husband that he shouldn’t waste his time raising someone else’s child and being with me someone who has a kid. Obviously my husband didn’t care and loves me and my son. We decided to have a baby and I’m 31 weeks now and still this woman talks shit.

Recently I think she took it too far. Her mother was in town from out of state and she wanted to come visit our place. I unfortunately got sick and the house was a disaster so I told my husband to apologize to them but tell them I’m sick and they can’t come over. All seemed fine until my mother in laws mother went home. My mother in law called my husband and told him he was a disappointment and told him that he needs to grow a pair and stick up to me. Me his pregnant wife? We made a mutual decision that it was not a good idea for them to come over because I was sick. I didn’t want to get anyone sick and I didn’t want anyone over when I’m sick. Like who wants guests over especially for a first time meeting when they are sick?

So she goes on and on about how he should stick up to me and he should have made me stay in the room while they visited because she did not care that I was sick. Like what part of that sounds ok to her? She always tries to get in between me and my husband. I just can’t deal with her anymore. She is so disrespectful. Any advice or opinions on what to do?
