Can I get my iud removed ?

I got my mirena iud in September 2021 after I had my son in July. First 4 months was a rollercoaster but now it’s not a big deal, weight gain? Yes but not noticeable cause I’m gaining in all the right places. But I don’t like all the hormones in my body making me act like someone I’m not, can I schedule an appointment with my ob to get it removed or do I have to wait the entire 7years ? Can the hospital remove it? I just don’t want this in my body anymore, and I’m not sexually active so pregnancy isn’t something I’m worried about

Just call your OB and get it removed. 
That’s the beauty of an IUD. It can be removed at any time but can last for years if you want.

I had mine removed after a few years. I had to argue with the nurse about whether or not the mirena caused side effects or not and she accused me of trying to secretly get pregnant and that my husband (fiancé at the time) might need to sign a form saying it’s okay. My actual OB didn’t give me any trouble and no I didn’t have to sign a form that I can recall, neither did my husband. The removal itself was very quick and painless. I started to feel like myself again after a few weeks.

You can call to have it removed any time! 7 years is just the maximum they recommend leaving it in place as after that it loses its efficacy, but it can be removed at any time after it’s inserted.

When I had an IUD it made my periods like 10x worse and I got crazy mood swings. Like I had to change my tampon ever 2 hours for an entire week and cramps were so bad that I was throwing up, before the IUD my periods were super light and lasted 4-5 days and minor cramping for a day. They told me to keep it in for a few months and it should level out but I got it out after 5 months I think. Any doctor can do it for you.
