My boyfriend just texted me he wants to be single..

I dont understand. He just gave me the key to his house a month ago. Just said i was his soulmate 2 days ago. And said he was super in love with me everyday, except for today. We got into a minor disagreement and i asked him when he would like to have an open kind discussion. Then he said he thinks its best for us to be single… im hurt and i feel crushed. Like what the fuck?? Im honestly pissed off. And i want to go off on him on text but i havent responded. There was no abuse or anything crazy happening like cheating. I stayed with him when i saw him at his lowest. I dont understand how he can call me his soulmate (something hes never said before) 2 days ago, then say he wants to be single with me today over a text message? I dont know what to do i feel so broken. Should i message him back?
