Should I cut her off?
Hi!! So I’ve been having issues with my mom and I actually decided to go no contact a few months ago. Since I went no contact my mom had been contacting my best friend every week to “check on me”. Best friend and I live an hour apart and don’t talk much about how I’m really feeling since all of this has happened. She didn’t even tell me when my mom first started contacting her. My mom knows that she’s putting her in the middle and I told my best friend that this is a manipulative tactic being used by my mother. My mom constantly overstepped boundaries, put men before me, and talks negatively about me and others, the list goes on. It was causing so much stress and affecting my health so I blocked her. My mom had the nerve to email me last week saying she guess she still blocked in text but wanted to see how I’m doing and when I responded last week and let her know I’m fine and I’ve unblocked her, she never called, texted or anything. This entire time (since Feb) she hasn’t contacted my husband (who initially she had a good relationship with) to see how I’m doing, the person who lives with me and actually knows how I’m doing. She likes to play the woe is me card. When I called her out on it she turned her entire side of the family against me.
My “best friend” says she isn’t trying to straddle the fence but she thinks that all moms cross boundaries and that shouldn’t be a reason that I don’t talk to her. I told her that my mom could still apologize for the things she’s been doing. My “best friend” invalidates my feelings constantly and it seems like she’s picked my moms side. She doesn’t understand and she never will. I am honestly feeling like maybe Our friendships has reached the end. When I told my bestie how I felt she said “I’m sorry you feel that way”.
I’m in counseling trying to heal from all of the hurt and trauma and I just want to release anyone who’s not truly being supportive of my decisions. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed. Thanks for reading.
