When did you start baby on solids?

Question

Pediatrician told me I could start solids at my 4 month appointment today. Baby girl is showing all signs of readiness (sitting with limited support, reaching and pulling things into her mouth, opening her mouth for syringes/ spoons, interest when we eat…) it just feels so early still. I want to do what’s best for her gut development, allergy prevention, etc. I’m thinking about waiting a couple more weeks to 5 months but if she’s ready, I mean I don’t want to deny her. Stressful decision 🫣

The most up to date recommendation is 6 months. No earlier. 
It used to be 4 months. But after many negative outcomes of starting this early, it has been pushed up to 6m.
So it’s 6m AND all signs of readiness met. 
You are not denying her anything.

We started purées at 6 months. She wasn’t ready but we kind of had to force it on her because she wasn’t gaining enough weight and her pediatrician was threatening to send us to a specialist. We had a 7 month weigh in and she had gained a pound in a month so we’re good now. I wanted to do BLW but she’s only got 2 teeth so far.

My daughter will be 7 months old on the 19th and she’s still on purées because I’m scared to start solids but she also has no teeth yet so I don’t feel so bad LOL

To add: 
The pediatrician recommends 6 months, BUT my son showed interest at 4 months so I gave him the stage 1 infant foods which said 3+ months, he took to it very well, had no digestion issues and is now a healthy toddler. 
If this baby is the same, I'll do the same with him. Mothers know their children better than anyone in my opinion, but if you prefer to go strictly by a doctor that's fine too

I started at 4 months with my daughter but it led her to being sick. At 6 months she was actually ready for food and her body didn't reject it like at 4 months.
