Herpes

I had unprotected sex with my husband 2 days ago because we’re trying for another baby but I started experiencing itching and bumps yesterday and today it’s a full blown herpes breakout. I don’t know much about it because it’s only ever happened 1 other time and that was 2 years ago. I’m worried that I could have exposed my husband. I’ve heard as long as you don’t have open sores they’re fine, I’ve heard 2-4 days before an outbreak you’re highly contagious. Which is it?
