Is this a cruel reason not to give the child his last name?

Me and my fiancé found out I was pregnant last weekend. We’ve been discussing names and he asked about his last name. Mind you we discussed a few months into dating that I wouldn’t take his last name and neither would our kids. 
The reason… his last name is Dork. 
He laughed it off and said he understands. We haven’t discussed it since but I thought we had come to an understanding. Now that the time is here he all of a sudden feels left out and wants to hyphenate. I’m sorry but I’m not naming my kid ___ Dork-Holmes 🥸

There are some names that it would be cruel to pass down to a child. I definitely wouldn’t give my child that name.

That child will be bullied in school regardless of their name and right now, is your BIGGEST opportunity to reduce the ramifications of that future bullying. Your fiancee could take your last name if he feels left out. But that's a solution that will definitely hurt his big ego, if he's already complaining about your kid's last name.

He already agreed to it. Tough cookies for him. I can’t imagine wanting to give my child that name in the first place. NOT having that name is a great way to avoid bullying 🤷🏼‍♀️

When you get married why not make a new last name? I hate my husbands too so I suggested it. Maybe something cool or meaningful. Just a whole new thing for all three of you.

Why can’t he just take your name so you all have the same name? It shouldn’t be a big deal and I would personally understand if I were him.

I don’t blame you.. I absolutely understand how he feels, but ultimately I would be thinking of the child and the teasing they would endure. I have a friend who’s last name is Hoar…. I felt so bad for his sister and whoever he marries…

This is a tough one and a funny one. I dated a kid in middle school…wasn’t actually dating but our parents were good friends so we were allowed to “date” and see each other a lot. His last name was Fegley. At 12 years old, I knew I couldn’t ever have that last name 😬 he was so sweet though! But man, the kids were mean. Fugly.

Growing up my best friends nick name was Dork. Nobody knew her real name. Im pretty sure she still goes by it and we are almost in our 30s. She never got made fun of for having that nick name. 
Where I live now most guys go by their last name and women go by 1st name. Dork as a last name doesn't bother me though. Its just a name. 
I also know a guy that his last name is balls. He goes by Harry for his 1st name..
