Do you have to hold bladder for 4 hours?

Hell. My period is 3 days late. I took a test and it was negative. Is it possible since I peed an hour before I took the test it could cause a false negative? This is the first time since we’ve been ttc that my period is late and I really got my hopes up. If I don’t start tomorrow morning I plan on testing again with fmu

Update: I’m 5 days late. I’ve taken 2 more test and I’ve gotten vvvf lines on both. Different brands. So fingers crossed that in 2 days the line is darker
