Would you want to know?

So my son, 13 has been talking to a girl. Both my kids know I will 100% go through their phones. I just found out she just finished 5th grade (11-12?) and she has been sending him very explicit texts like “f*ck me”, “if I kiss you will it turn you on?”, “what do you wanna do to me?” 
Anyways, we’ve had the talk and we talk very openly about things. I let him know texts like that were not appropriate (he did not answer her messages when she said stuff like that) and he needed to tell her to chill out. 2 days ago, she sends him a topless pic. I made him delete it and told him about child pornography, etc. It didn’t sit well with me and i felt the need to tell her parents. Today I finally found her mom on FB and let her know. Her daughter confessed to everything and said my son had not sent her any explicit pics. 
My question is, would you want to know if your kid was doing this? My daughter is her age and i would absolutely want to know.

I may not *want* to know but I’d *need* to know — she and I would be having a very serious conversation about her actions and the legal implications and her phone and WiFi privileges would be stripped. I’d get her a cheap phone that can’t connect to the internet and she’d be using that instead of a smartphone.

You absolutely did the right thing. This time, it happened to be with someone her own age, and a kind and level headed boy like your son. Next time she may not be so lucky....shes putting herself and others at risk, and her parents need to know.

Yes!! You did the right thing. This is one of the reasons I don’t think children that young should have phones. Nor should they have social media that young. Sounds like you’ve done a great job raising your son!!

Oh you 💯 did the right thing. If she was sending that to your son she was most likely sending it to several people. At least your son is still a child himself but who knows who has those photos now 💔😢

Absolutely! Why? Because 1 it's not appropriate! 2 that could mean something's happened that caused her to feel this is ok (abuse) and 3 because if the other parent reports it to police, my child is going to end up in trouble for making and distributing child porn! I need to know if my child has done this so I can handle it in my end. I hope this girl gets some help for whatever has made her think she needs to talk to him like that and send him pictures! I'm proud of your son for not engaging in that talk and for not sending her pictures back!

You did the right thing. I have a daughter who just had her first period. She’s 11. A lot of her friends have also had their first periods so I know they talk about stuff. I have had the talk with her openly about body changes and some sex stuff. Well her friend who is 13 was sending her meme of girls with “white stuff in their faces” and it saying cummmmmm. I immediately told the girls parents as that is inappropriate for an 11 year old much less a 13 year old. Her parents took it seriously and I’m glad I said something. I expect their to be some conversations of sex and puberty but I also think their is a limit to that as well.
