How do you talk to your partner about discipline for your child?

When I met my fiancé, my oldest son was 3 and he knew that I did not whip him or any other physical punishment so he had never done that. Since we have now a 22 month old, he starting to smack his hand or wrist every time he does something wrong. He doesn’t listen when any time I tell him that smacking doesn’t really help and teaches him to hit when he’s upset with someone. It’s like we can’t talk about it because he just gets so mad and all of our family agree with him so I’m by myself. I don’t know what to do and I’m pregnant with our next too 😭

You have to sit down and find common ground because it is his child too. You should have talked about this before you had kids with him.

My husband and I are pretty much on the same page, but while raising a child things come up that you don't anticipate. Something we ran into is super picky eating. My husband found it appropriate to make our oldest meal after meal until she finally decided to eat. We were spending a ton of money. He didn't care what she atw as long as she ate. I was the opposite, I wanted her to sit there and eat what she was given. No give at all. We sat down and talked about it, both offering suggestions until we found a solution we're both happy with. While talking we also explained our point of view and why we felt that way. All of our conversations are really calm, respectful, and use a lot of communication. In our 10 years we've never had a fight or an arguement.
