What was having a baby like ???

Hey ladies, im having my first baby and im nervous about giving birth. 
Can you tell me what your labor was like ?? How painful was it ? Did you get an epidural? Did you have a natural birth kr c- section? How long did it last ? What was it like afterwards ? Were you calm or excited or scared ???

I had a natural birth at 40w 1d. No pain meds. I did a water birth which was amazing. Birth didn't hurt half as much as I heard it did. Everyone  makes it sound like you are being tortured. Yeah it hurt but definitely  not the worst pain I have had and I haven't had much for bad pain at all. I was in labor 9 hrs start to finish. 6 hrs at home and 3 hrs at the birth center. I had a super easy recovery as I didn't trear so had no stitches. The hardest part of postpartum was not have stomach strength from having my muscles stretched out to allow baby to grow and the hair loss. That and postpartum depression that hit at 6 months pp. Over all it was an amazing experience and I look forward to my next child. It just amazed me what women's bodies  can do. You go this mom. You are made for this.

Had 2 babies only allowed my husband to be with me I didn't tell anyone I was giving birth I like my privacy lol
Both were pretty fast labor
First one was 2 hrs long pushed 4 times and boom she was born 
Second was 1-2 hrs. Pushed 2 times and boom she was born. 
I got the epidural but didn't get to kick in in time but to be honest I didn't feel anything it didn't hurt one bit. I was apparently already or about to start crowning by the time I arrived to the hospital didn't know as I hadn't felt anything just discomfort when sitting
Afterwards my ocd kicked and was pretty grossed out by the situation  the nurse had to completely bathe the baby before I carried them. 
Then pretty much super easy thru the newborn stage. 
Currently 5 months pregnant with my third hopefully it's as easy as the first 2.

I have four kids but I’ll tell my last labor. It was my absolute favorite. I did it all natural and it was so amazing. I had early labor for like a week. I had contractions and lost my mucous plug. I woke up the night before my due date with bad contractions. Contractions I couldn’t sleep through. Trying to wake my husband up while having them was hilarious. He was so tired and couldn’t stay awake 😂😂 by the time we went in I chose to walk up two flights of stairs because I wanted to keep labor going. Once I laid in a bed and the nurse checked me I was at a 9! Shortly after my water broke. She said well we have no time for an epidural I could maybe do a spinal block. I said nope I want to do it all natural! That nurse was absolutely amazing! She helped me breathe and focus! Anyway the pushing does get to a point where it does hurt but you have so much adrenaline and you have this intense want to hold your baby that you push through it all! My husband helped me to keep pushing by telling he couldn’t see the head and telling me he was so proud of me. I will say I will choose natural over the epidural this pregnancy. It was so much more amazing. It so much easier to be able to feed your body prep for pushing and you just have these instincts to tell you what to do next. I did have epidurals with my first three but they were also inductions. I personally love labor. People think I’m crazy cause I get so excited about labor! 😂😂

My first I was 21 years old. I was in labor for just over 16 hours. I’m a huuuuuge whimp when it comes to pain so I absolutely had an epidural as soon as I could. I pushed for an hour and 23 minutes and had an episiotomy to help prevent tearing. He was born at 9lbs 5oz.
My second i was 30 and I had 4 false alarm labors. I almost had to be admitted to the hospital at 30 weeks because I was having contractions. Luckily they got under control with hydration bags and medication. I had a doctors appointment the morning I went into labor and had an induction date set for 5 days later. I lost my mucus plug 6 hours after my doctors appointment and ended up at the hospital at 11:30pm. Again, had an epidural around 3am and was able to get a little rest. The midwife came in to check me at 6:30am and she was born at 6:40am weighing 9lbs 6oz.
I was terrified my second time around just because the contractions were so much more intense and my labor time was cut in half. But I wouldn’t change it for the world!

Wanted a natural birth, but ended up with an emergency C-section. They had to put me to sleep because my daughter was in distress. Not fun times. But worth it to get my daughter here safely.

I have two children, 11 years apart. Both vaginal births. 1st one 9 hours of labor 15 mins pushing and epidural. Second 21 hours no epidural and 15 mins pushing. I wasn’t scared the first time but second time I was. First didn’t hurt much 5/10 second 10/10 lol. Honestly I’m glad I got to experience both I was numb the first time so I really didn’t know what giving birth really felt like lol. You Will be fine and it’s okay to be nervous when you get in there you are going to feel like a natural lol.

With my first he was sunnyside up so the contractions were absolutely horrible considering I have a high pain tolerance. After 8 hours I caved and got an epidural. My labour was 14 hours because they had to manually turn him. Ended up with a 2nd degree tear because he came out with his hand up against his face. With my second, I was handling contractions really well, I went from 3cm when I got to the hospital to 8, almost 9cm in 2 hours. All natural. Not long after I felt something weird and that's when they realised my daughter's arm was out so that meant automatic emergency c-section. C-section recovery was a bitch and my first surgery ever. A very scary experience. I will never have a 3rd baby because that baby would probably want to come out with both hands out first lol 🤦‍♀️

My first was great I think, my contractions weren’t bad I sat in a shallow bath of warm water to help and to try and prevent any tearing from the actual birth. I had my plan ready going in there, no medication absolutely no pictocin (sp?), absolutely no episiotomy, and skin to skin time/ breastfeeding right away. I don’t remember it very well I’m not sure if it’s because it was about 8 years ago or if it’s because I did it naturally and the brain forgets the pain so you’ll do it again 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t remember it being super painful they had to break my water the rest of the way because it only broke a little, but then the contractions got worse and she was out pretty quick. 
My second was completely different. I hoped for another natural no medication birth but I was having back labor it felt like I was being kicked in the back repeatedly by a horse no lie and I tried to tough that out but I was exhausting myself so I opted for the epidural after speaking to my nurse about her own experiences with it. It was a life saver for me, it felt real weird being put in but the pain stopped and I was able to sleep for the few hours it took me to dilate the rest of the way. If I hadn’t gotten it I would not have been ready for pushing at all. It was a completely different experience with the epi, no pain at all so I was hyper aware of everything and I don’t think I’ll forget the experience this time. 
I got through both times the same way, I went in there with as much knowledge as I could so I felt confident about making decisions not letting doctors choose for me, I had support with me to hold my hand, and I didn’t worry about it because I knew my body was made to do this and also because i didn’t want to stress myself out beforehand. Also! My first doctor had tried to speed up my labor with drugs because he had somewhere to be, when I said no he tried to have the nurse sneak it into my IV, so it’s important that you know what you want going in and so does your support person so when you’re vulnerable they can speak up on your behalf.

Everyone's experience is completely unique but I would say one thing that helped me very much was not reading tooo many birth stories because you could get yourself worried over issues that you may not even have 😊 
In mine, I got pitocin and that speeded by my contractions and so because they were getting really intense, I did get an epidural and it helped so much with the pain. As I got closer to starting to push, they turned my dosage of epidural down so I could feel my contractions and know when to push.  Giving birth didnt hurt as much as I thought it would. From start of my first contraction to birth, my labor was 12 hours.

I have four, and have done delivery three different ways. With my first, I was hospitalized at 35 weeks with dehydration from a stomach bug and they caught decelerations (her hr dipping way too low), got steroids, was supposed to stay there til 37 weeks, but had an emergency c-section with spinal block the next day. Super scary, but my nurse was amazing and walked me through everything. This was my toughest recovery, but because I lost too much blood and was in shock, etc. point is, my worst delivery still wasn’t that bad, at the time I didn’t even realize how bad of shape I was in, lol I was just in bliss of my baby, and she was super healthy. Second and third I delivered vaginally, both inductions with epidurals. I found both to be quick and easy (epidural on first vaginally delivery worked tooooo good, so they had to tell me when to push 😂). My last baby I had a two hour drive to the hospital because I wanted to keep my same OB, labored at home too long, got there at a 7, wanted an epidural, got it but immediately had to push so it didn’t even get turned on 🤷🏼‍♀️. It was painful, but honestly I had gotten stadol and before that medicine I was in control mentally, afterwards I was just high but not having pain relief, so I lost that mental control. I’m now pregnant with #5 and will likely do it all naturally this time. I can tell you this, no matter how smooth or scary, always worth it and you’ll be in bliss. It’s only temporary and you’re stronger than you know!
