HOW SERIOUS SHOULD ONE TAKE A JOB?

Question

I’m confused on how to balance a job. 
Meaning I don’t know how serious to take a job without causing harm to myself. 
Should I take a job so seriously as like life or death and my whole life depends on it. 
Should I integrate my job into my identity. 
Is my job my life , meaning and purpose. Is my job me lol am I the job ? I saw a coworker of mine taking her job so seriously that she believes people should make no mistakes. And she always says wants good people
On her team only. Because it represents her
Genuine advice please ?

I take my job serious while I’m there and as soon as I step outside those doors I don’t think about it till my next day of work 🤷🏻‍♀️
My job is not my life, not my personality.
I’ve been there for almost 12 years. I make mistakes all the time, I’m a human. I’m not a robot. But I’m still good at my job and that’s all there is to it.

No I don’t think your job should be your identity, your personal life and family should be your priority but I also don’t think you should slack off or do a bad job at work either, I personally take pride in my work and want to be successful at my tasks and projects. A job is only one part of your life, it’s important to do a good job while you’re there, but take your personal time, set boundaries, prioritize you loved ones and hobbies.

Well, mistakes are part of the learning process so even if you take your job as seriously as can be you’re probably going to make mistakes. 
You should take your job seriously enough that you focus on working consistently while you’re being paid to work and maintain a basic integrity about your work even when others don’t. Like, don’t let anyone ever be able to say you didn’t do do your job to a reasonably satisfactory level. But your job isn’t your life and purpose. There is working that is aligned with who you are and what you determine your purpose to be, but we don’t usually call that work a “job”. A job is a means to an end, and there is a seriousness that is necessary so your job serves your life; when it stops serving you is when you take your dedication and skill elsewhere.

Do your job well while you’re there because that’s what you get paid to do, but don’t let it kill your or stress you out… and don’t bring it home. If you feel like it’s chronically interfering with your home life, find something better. I’ll never let a job control my entire life. This is a means of money, not my life. My family and home and things I like to do is my life.
