Asking family to wash hands before holding baby

Grandparents stopped by to see their grandbaby (7 days old) for the first time this evening. I asked my MIL and FIL to wash their hands before holding my son. My FIL said he washes his hands all the time and acted as though his hands were clean enough. My MIL washed her hands immediately and held her grandson when finished. My FIL apparently can’t be told what to do, so he didn’t wash his hands and basically didn’t acknowledge my son during his visit. I didn’t ask him a second time but I would have if he reached to hold him. He basically just pouted and carried on with fake small talk during his visit. I’m blown away but also not shocked at the same time by the stubbornness. It’s something different every time we see him.
