Is he deleting our messages?

Facebook messenger has a search bar where you look up specific keywords to bring up old conversations 
Like if I type in address anyone who’s said
That to me in a conversation the threads will appear even if it’s from 5 years ago 
I noticed with this guy I’m chatting with this is not the case…..
I typed in address in the search bar so it would bring up his address that he gave me since I forgot it…. Thing is this conversation didn’t pop up 
I had to go way way way back just to find it
Then I noticed conversations from 5 days ago are the only ones that pop up if I search a keyword…. With him only
Does this mean he’s deleting our messages???

Yes. You can actually delete messages permanently from both ends now. 
I’ve had a guy was talking to do this. He told me he was completely single and I believed him. But I started to go in depth of stalking his account because we a date planned. I had this irking feeling he wasn’t actually single. His relationship status was hidden too.
I found out he actually has a wife. I confronted him about it and he told me they were separated . I didn’t believe it so I shot her a message and they weren’t separated. He freaks out and deletes our messages permanently so I couldn’t even see them. But I had already screenshot Ted the chat before I had messaged his wife.
You can test it out with a friend to prove it. I’ve already tested it out

You said you had to go way back up to find it…does that mean it was still there and just wouldn’t come up in the search? If so then he can’t have deleted it or it wouldn’t be there at all.

He can’t delete messages in your account. He can delete them on his end but he can’t change what’s in your inbox.
